LEEDing The Way in Facility Design and Operation

Growing in popularity among owners, municipalities, corporations and government offices, thernLEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program is designed to acceleraternthe development and implementation of green building practices. LEED was developed byrnthe United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and provides a complete framework forrnassessing building performance and meeting sustainability goals. Based on scientific standards,rnLEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings,rnenergy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. This paper presents thernLEED concepts and applicability to metal finishing facility design and operation.
