摘要

Friction stir welding (FSW) technology has shown to be a promising joining method for welding aluminium profiles cost effectively. With the appropriate application design and process control, it brings new opportunities into the field of fabrication. This is particularly relevant regarding the production of ship panels and in train, aeroplane and automotive components. The FSW process has shown its potential in production of wider and lighter panels in precipitation strengthened alloys, where good mechanical properties are obtained after natural or artificial ageing.
