D-ribose as a component unit of ribonucleie acid occurs in all living matter. It is a physiologically important substance. Meanwhile, D-ribose is also a useful industrial production. The studies on D-ribose fermentation have been paid much attention recently, possibly because this pentose can be used as energy accelerant or synthesis antiviral and anticancer drugs. D-ribose-producing bacteria were improved by Food Biotechnology Research Laboratory of Tianjin University of Science and Technology. The transketolase-deficient Bacillus pumilus mutant WGM2018 was selected after physical and chemical mutagenesis. It can accumulate 7.86% D-ribose in fermented broth. This paper mainly dealt with D-glueonokinase Characteristics of mutant WGM2018.
