Importance of late Famatinian deformation in the exploration for wolfram deposits in Sierras de Cordoba, Argentina

This is a synthesis of the structural and textural study of high grade wolfram deposits in veins and alteration haloes of Aguas de Ramon, Ambul and Cerro Aspero districts cropping out in the metamorphic basement of Cordoba province. Remobilizing fluids are characterised and the kinematics and geodynamics are analized in order to establish a reciprocal relationship between the circulation of mineralising hydrother-mal solutions and a strong structural control. The structural control is assigned to a latitudinal to sublatitudinal maximum compressive stress σ_1 during the late-Famatinian convergence stage and to the presence of preexisting anisotropy in the metamorphic basement of the Sierras Pampeanas de Cordoba.
