This paper presents a maturity model on migratory stages of supply chain development, which stretches from within an enterprise and extends into the extended enterprise creating an inter-organisational learning curve. Advanced information and communication technologies (ICT) are enablers of this development. Identified stages of optimisation, integration, collaboration and synchronisation are constructed. These form a continuum that runs on a supply chain framework of business processes, management components and a network structure. ICT considerations will focus on production planning and control and will include manufacturing resource planning (MRPII), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and advanced planning scheduling (APS) systems.
