The transmission of air-borne tire/road noise into the passenger compartment of aminivan vehicle is investigated. A detailed SEA model is built to represent the energy flowpaths, which included interior, exterior and engine compartment acoustic spaces, v&icIestructure, glass panels and the trim. The validation of the SEA model is carried out bycomparing predicted and measured noise and vibration levels. The validation tests were carriedout both in semi-anechoic and reverberant acoustic environments. The validated SEA model isutilized to analyze the contribution of different noise transmission paths, and al80 to evaluatevarious design alternatives to improve the sound quality of the vehicle.
