An equipment user’s specification typically requires a sound level guarantee one meterfrom the equipment skid. The skid can have multiple sound sources mounted on it and thesound emissions from the contributions of these sources are evaluated to predict an Aweightedsound level one meter from the skid. The two methods typically used to calculatethe A-weighted sound level can result in significantly different sound level predictions. Thispaper evaluates these two calculation methods and demonstrates the magnitude of thisdifference.
