Bringing high fidelity simulation to maintenance

With the increase in processing power of the new generation of PCs and the improvement in re-hosting technologies, high-fidelity simulation software from Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and Maintenance Training Simulators (MTS) can now be ported to a lower-end platform. PC-based simulation interacting with Computer Based Training (CBT) or used in free-play mode can now provide a consistent training environment from the classroom up to the high end simulators. Since reduction in cost of devices can increase their number while maintaining the same training budget, maintenance training can benefit from having greater access to simulation to improve the knowledge of aircraft system normal and abnormal operating modes.
