Present work is aimed at the synthesis and characterization of calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) powders as a precursor for fabri cation of resorbable bioceramics. Amorphous calcium pyrophosphate (ACPP) in the form of nanopowders was precipitated from Ca(NO3)2 and (NH4)4P2O7 solutions at room temperature.Crystalline CPP was fabricated from ACPP by its thermal decomposition at 600℃and consisted from (3- and a- phase.Small particles with the size less than 200 run in size promote sintering of ceramic material,which exhibits microstructure with submicron grains,apparent density 86% and demonstrates compressive strength of 72 MPa.
