Stereolithography(SL) is becoming more affordable and the preferred method in developing new products. However, it often takes hours to tens of hours to build a prototype with SL technique, which leads to higher operating cost. THis paper deals with how to raise the building efficiency of SLA using a galvaometric scanning system. The correlation between prototype's build time and various process parameters is discussed and the optimum layer thickness minimizing the scanning time is derived. THe author also presents an optimizing algorithm to minimize the build time. Several other measures are adopted to raise the productivity.
