Bridge-works on high-steep slope are usually the key projects in mountain roadway that affect the roadway locations and cost of investment. And the bridge foundation position decides the safety of the bridge and slope. Study on safe bridge foundation position determining on high-steep slope is required urgently in mountainous roadway engineering. In this paper, taking the bank slope of Yesanhe River Bridge in Yichang-wanzhou railway as an example, the varying characteristics of rock mass stresses of high-steep slope under load at different foundation positions are analyzed by numerical method. The bridge foundation position is determined based on stresses characteristics of rock mass on slope surface under load. And varying characteristics of rock mass stresses of bridge foundation underside under load at different foundation positions are also analyzed, by which the bridge foundation position is verified or modified. The rock mass strength of slope under load of bridge is analyzed with strength theory. Finally, the safe position of the bridge foundation is determined synthetically.
