Trend Analysis on Change in Coastal Water Quality of Beibu Bay

The coastal water quality of Beibu Bay in Guangxi has been monitored for 5 years. The single-factor exponential model was used to evaluate the present water quality. The rank correlation method was applied to analyzing the trend of change in water pollution, consequently to identifying the main pollutants and their sources in this sea area. The analysis result indicates that, even in the dry season, the coastal water quality of Beibu Bay in Guangxi is in good condition, being Classification II. In dry season, COD, inorganic nitrogen and active phosphate meets the functional requirements. Its primary control factor is COD. The trend of water quality degradation is not significant over the past 5 years. Therefore, the Beibu Bay area has a high environmental capacity, and is not likely to have the large-area pollution. There are spaces in this sea area for the development of industry, fishery and tourism.
