Inroads in quantitative analysis its role in the control of pulping rpocesses

The reality of today's pulp and paper industry is that mills are under constant pressure to reduce costs, improve quality, and minimze environmental impact. Achieving these goals requires greater insight into the characteristic behavior of mill processes, and the wisdom and conviction to seize the opportunities that enfold with this increase in knowledge. The basis of process understanding and performance lies in measurement. This paper details how a recent innovation can make previously difficult to measure process inforamtion more readily available, and in doing so, provides the potential for substantial improvements in mill operations.
