Headland-bay beach is a beach morphology with the widest distributionrnin the world, which can be used to analyze the long-term erosiondepositionrnchanges of the shoreline. The related theoretical model canrnbe used to simulate the shoreline morphology under equilibrium state.rnThe most extensively used model is the parabolic model. In addition,rnDSAS has gained popularity because of the simple user interface andrnthe reliable calculation results. In this paper, the sandy coast ofrnHuangcheng, Xiangshan, is analyzed as an example. A comparativernresearch is made for the stability of the sandy coast using parabolicrnmodel and DSAS, respectively. The results show that the planernmorphology of Huangcheng Beach has not yet reached the staticrnequilibrium as found by the parabolic model; the beach is inrnnonequilibrium. But according to DSAS calculation, HuangchengrnBeach was progressing towards the sea from 1962 to 2005. Therndifference between the two results is derived from the inconsistency ofrnsediment supply at different parts of the beach and the difference in thernshielding effect of the headland.
