Engineered wood floor systems have provided engineers with a method to spanrngreater distances with significantly less raw material than standard sawn lumber.rnLonger spans with lighter floors have made engineered wood floors susceptible tornundesirable levels of vibrations due to human activities. This paper presents arncomputer analysis method that considers realistic floor behaviour without therncomplexity associated with finite element modelling. To achieve this, an Excel?rninterface was developed to communicate the desired floor system properties to thernOpenSees finite element analysis software. The interface also performs floor designrnacceptance post-processing. The output was compared with experimental results inrnorder to substantiate the computer analysis tool as a viable design aid.
