The dampening capability of the protective bicycle helmet during fall is provedrnexperimentally by the drop test. From the measured values of acceleration at therngravity centre of the dummy head it derived head injury criterion (HIC). A drop testrncan be simulated numerically using the LS DYNA program. The model of therndummy head is created in accordance with test standards, the model of the helmet isrnmade out from three-dimensional scanning for three model variants, withoutrnhardening of the surface, with hardening outer or over all surface. Values of the HICrn(which represent level of the dampening quality protection of the head against therneffects of overloading) are determined from estimated results of accelerations duringrnthe drop test simulation.
