This paper deals with the response of circular GLARE fiber-metal laminatesrnsubjected to low velocity impact. Using a spring-mass model, the differentialrnequations of impact motion are derived and solved analytically. Published formulasrn[1, 2] concerning indentation of GLARE are used during loading. Here, an equationrnfor the unloading path is derived and used during unloading. Expressions forrncalculation of load, position, velocity and kinetic energy time histories are derivedrnand critical impact variables are determined. These expressions are applied tornGLARE 4-3/2. The predicted impact variables agree well with publishedrnexperiment. No other solution of this problem is known.
