Many of the commercially available isolation systems provide adequate isolation for the sensitive components, but there are cases where an increase in protection would provide for the use of more COTS equipment and subsequent cost reductions. Additionally, although the Navy specifies a specific test to be utilized for qualification, in reality it can be construed that it is the responsibility of the designer to make the best isolation system possible. This paper describes a family of mounting systems that have been developed to address these needs, and includes the empirical data gathered during the testing of the various configurations.
