As wireless networks move towards the IP-based solution, Quality of Service (QoS) becomes a major issue for the support of real-time multimedia applications. QoS Routing (QoSR) enhance the capabilities of Differentiated Services (DiffServ) in a local domain by offering better service to end users, optimizing the network resource usage and improving network performance in case of congestion. These benefits come at the cost of increased protocol overhead. This paper examines the interactions of QoSR with the BRAIN Candidate Micro-mobility Protocol (BCMP) within a local DiffServ domain. The major purpose is to evaluate the impact of QoSR on the network performance and identify various mechanism to improve its efficiency.
