A hybrid aligned nematic film (NH film) was developed as a viewing angle compensator for transflective TFT-ICDs. The effect of the cell parameters on the viewing angle performance is discussed. As a result of optimization, the compensated transflective TFT-LCDs exhibit ultrawide viewing angle performance in transmissive mode.
