Observation of s porothrix schenckii for possible different susceptibilities between its yeast and filamentous form to fluconazole or miconazole

Soporotherix scheckii Hektoen and Perkins, 1900 (S. schenckii) is a typical dimorphic fungus and distributes in world wide. It is the pathogen to cause sporotrichosis which is a deep mycoses commonly found in dermatilogical clinics. It has been well known that S. schenckii exists as filamentous form in its natural habitat or in usual culture conditions, but as yeast form in infected tissue or in some special culture conditions. However, it still is a question whether there are different susceptibilities to some antifungal agents when this fungus is growing as different morphic forms. To answer this question, seven strains of s. schenckii isolated from clinical patients with sporotricosis in China were tested their susceptibilities to fluconazole (FCZ) and miconazole (MCZ).
