Effects of organic gas components on the contact resistance have been evaluated. 1,4-butanediol, n-hexane, phenol and benzene are selected in terms of combination of hydroxylrngroups (polar group) and a benzene ring (π-bond). Effects of these organic gas components on the contact resistance are evaluated by using telecommunication relays whose cases are removed as detectors. Test conditions are as follows: Contact material: Au 90% - Ag 10%. Load condition of electrical life test: 28V DC, 100mA. Load condition of mechanical life test: 0V, 0mA. Number of operations: 2,500,000 times. Temperature: 85℃ . The electrical life are as follows: 1,4-butanediol:2,500,000 times, n-hexane:30,000 times. phenol:2,000 times. benzene:6,000 times. The electrical life isrneffected by a benzene ring (π-bond). This effect becomes larger under the existence of hydroxyl groups (polar group). The mechanical life are as follows: 1,4-butanediol: 2,500,000 times, n-hexane: 1,600,000 times. phenol:2,500,000 times, benzene: 1,400,000 times. The mechanical life depends on hydroxyl groups (polar group). The mechanical life doesn't depend on a benzenernring (π-bond).
