The momentum vector distributions of fragment ions produced through the Coulomb explosion of small polyatomic molecules such as CO_2 and NO_2 in intense laser fields (approx 1 PW/cm~2) are measured by the mass-resolved momentum imaging (MRMI) technique. In the MRMI maps for the fragment ions produced from CO_2 and NO_2, their ultrafast structural deformation both along the stretching coordinate and along the bending coordinate is identified. The angle O-C-O angle distribution of CO_2 spreads significantly (FWHM approx 40 deg), and the angle bond angle of NO_2 increases toward a linear configuration within in the ultrashort duration of the laser pulse (approx 100 fs).
