The rutting of asphalt mixtures remains one of the main modes of degradation of flexible pavements.rnCurrently, mechanistic-empirical design methods for flexible pavements seek to take account rutting in thernpavement design. To do this, designers use predictive models. These models seek to predict the ruttingrnevolution by recording the accumulated permanent deformation under changing conditions of road servicern(temperature, traffic, etc.). However, at cold temperatures the permanent deformations of bituminousrnmaterials tend to decrease. To optimize the calculations, it is desirable to identify the temperature rangesrnthat govern permanent deformations of bituminous materials and generate the creation of rutting in thernasphalt pavement.rnThis paper aims to put into perspective the effect of temperature on the evolution of permanentrndeformations of bituminous materials by identifying the critical temperature range. Three mixesrncommonly used in Quebec have been tested (ESG10, EB14 and GB20). The changes in the rate of ruttingrn((% / Mc)) in function of temperature shows that the critical range of temperature changes significantlyrndepending on the type of mix (ESG10 surface layer from 20 to 50℃, EB14 from 25 to 48℃, and GB20rnbase layer from 25 to 45℃.
