Controlling Erosion at the Ichinoseki Retarding Basin, Ichinoseki, Iwate, Japan

摘要

Intense rain brought by typhoons and smaller tropical storms induce epic floods with devastating effects on the Ichinoseki area, located in the Kitagami basin of the Iwate prefecture in north-central Japan. The Ichinoseki retarding basin project, conceived in 1973, was constructed to help control the flood waters which breach the banks of the Kitagami River, endangering the surrounding population and natural resources.
