STIMULUS RANGE BIAS AND ESTIMATES OF PREFERRED ILLUMINANCE

Review of previous studies suggests thatrnmean preferred illuminances determinedrnusing an adjustment task tend to lie in thernmiddle of the range of illuminances available,rna stimulus range bias. This hypothesis wasrnvalidated through the results of anrnexperimental study. It is therefore suggestedrnthat further refinement of the method isrnneeded if it is to provide meaningful estimatesrnof preferred illuminances.
