A large office building has been the object of arndetailed feasibility study in order to select the mostrneffective actions for energy saving in space cooling.rnActions concerning the modification of buildingrnenvelope layout, including materials, shading devices,rncolours, and retrofit insulation have been testedrntogether with a set of improvements of the lightingrnsystem and an extensive use of daylighting strategies.rnBuilding energy performances under the variousrnretrofit hypotheses have been assessed by means ofrnDOE-2.1E. Changes in consumption of bothrnelectricity and fuel have been evaluated through allrnyear round simulation. The integration of daylightingrnwith lighting controls was simulated using a specificrnsoftware (LUMENMICRO) in combination withrnDOE-2. All the actions have been classifiedrnaccording to their economic, energy andrnenvironmental performances.
