The approach adopted by the Gaz de FrancernResearch Center for the modelling-simulation ofrnbuilding performance separates as far as possiblernmodelling from simulation.rnEmphasis is placed on modelling and itsrnvalidation. In the proposed approach, a model library inrnthe form of PROFORMA forms is set up. Its aim is tornprovide researchers with a set of models characterized,rnin particular, by their state of validation.rnThe engineer selects the models and thernsimulation tool he needs in order to obtain thernnumerical results corresponding to the objectives of hisrnstudy. The simulation can be made using a range ofrnsoftware, including CSTBat/TRNSYS and ALLANrnSIMULATION/ NEPTUNIX.rnThe different model validation techniques,rnexperimental validation in particular, enable us tornmake headway in our understanding and in the designrnof new products.rnThis approach aims to make optimum use of thernmodels and softwares. The initial work carried out inrnthe context is presented.
