This paper presents CFD simulations of naturalrndisplacement ventilation airflows in which thernbuoyancy force produced by a heat source is opposedrnby a wind force. Cases investigated focus on windbuoyancyrnforce relationships for which a two-layerrnstratification is maintained. CFD predictions of thernposition of the interface separating the two layers andrnthe change in reduced gravity (temperaturerndifference) between them are compared with thernanalytical work and salt-bath measurements of Huntrnand Linden (2000, 2005). Comparisons are goodrnwith only minor discrepancies in the interfacernposition and a small under-prediction of the upperrnlayer reduced gravity.
