THEORY AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A CONCEPT MODELER SUPPORTINGTHE HVAC ENGINEER

In a larger research program on 'cost versus valuernevaluations in the early design stages of technicalrnbuildings', a study and software implementation hasrnbeen made to simulate HVAC expertise using anrnIntegrated Early Design Environment. Basically thernidea is to create a virtual early design softwarernenvironment where the development of thernrequirements, concept designs and evaluations onrncosts and values is supported. A prototypernimplementation has been made that uses ProductrnData Technology (PDT) in combination withrnKnowledge Technology (KT) and which is able torncalculate certain HVAC aspects. This paper describesrnhow an existing HVAC simulation program has beenrnused to support the design process in the inceptionrnand early design phases.
