Filmmaker Showcase: Film as an Information Medium: Connecting Cultures and Communities

The panel will be structured as a modified film festivalrnformat, including the presentation of four short filmsrnproduced by presenting scholars. Each panelist will berngiven a total of 15 minutes to showcase a film (or portion ofrna film) designed or produced in collaboration with relevantrncommunities and stakeholder groups. These films andrnpanelists were selected to represent diverse approaches tornboth filmmaking as an information medium and to thernconference theme of community and culture.rnFollowing the screening of each of the films, the rest of thernsession will be devoted to an interactive discussion with thernaudience on: a) film as an information medium, b) the rolernof visual research methods in LIS, and c) how film fits inrnwith professional and academic outcomes.
