This paper reports partial results of a study of children’srninformation seeking behavior regarding physicalrncharacteristics of books from Beak’s study (2014)rnconstructing a child-driven metadata schema byrnunderstanding children’s cognitive processes and behaviorsrnduring book selection. Understanding children’s cognitivernprocesses and behaviors during book selection contributesrnto support knowledge organization systems reflectingrnchildren’s perspectives. This paper includes a shortrntranscription of an account of two children while perceivingrnphysical characteristics of books. In addition, two examplesrnare introduced to show how physical characteristics can berndescribed in metadata records.
