Solidified structures of thin walled and complicated titanium castings during vertical centrifugal castingrn(VCC) process have been studied in this paper. The macro-structure and grain size at different process schemes werernobserved by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The aim of the present paper is to establish quantitative relationshipsrnbetween the grain size of the casttitanium components and the casting wall thickness. The paper includes comprehensiverninvestigation of the microstructure during the VCC process. The results show that the centrifugal rotational velocity has muchrnbigger effect on the microstructure of thicker wall parts. The cooling rate of the castings has more effect on the grain sizerndistribution of the castings over the centrifugal rotational velocity.
