The Total Group is an integrated multinationalrnenergy company, with businesses in Upstream,rnDownstream, and Chemicals. Total E&P Indonésiern(TEPI) has been operating in Indonesia for 45 yearsrnand is currently the largest gas producer inrnIndonesia.rnBekapai is a mature offshore field which has beenrnoperated by TEPI since 1974. Oil and gasrnproduction from the Bekapai Field is transported tornSenipah Terminal using a 12”, 42 km pipeline. Thisrnmultiphase pipeline transports oil and gas withrnapproximately 7,000 scf/bbl gas oil ratio (GOR).rnThe pipeline is a bottleneck for the current oil andrngas transport (from Bekapai to Senipah) especiallyrnsince the redevelopment phase of Bekapai Fieldrnwhich is intended to increase the Bekapai gasrnproduction.rnDrag Reducing Agent (DRA) works as a result ofrnthe interaction between the polymer molecules andrnthe turbulence of the flowing fluid. The polymersrndissolves in the fluid and elongate to form longrn"strings" which orientate themselves in the directionrnof flow and absorb energy in the streak, like a shockrnabsorber, thereby reducing subsequent turbulentrnbursts. The energy dissipation by turbulent eddyrncurrents near the pipe wall during turbulent flow isrnsuppressed, and consequently drag is reduced. FromrnTEPI’s engineering simulation, DRA injectionrncould potentially increase production by up to 20%rnfor gas (with constant oil production) or up to 50%rnfor oil production (with constant gas production).rnDRA is injected from the Bekapai ProductionrnPlatform (BPP) downstream of the export pumps torndecrease the export pressure. Prior to DRArninjection, the average oil and gas production flowrnrate was 6,502 BOPD and 45 MMSCFD withrnexport pressure of 36 Bar. With DRA injection, peak oil and gas productionrnwas recorded to be 9,800 BOPD and 47 MMSCFDrnwith 100 ppm dosage rate during the 26 Mar – 2rnApr 2013 period. The average potential commercialrngain from DRA injection, prior to the April – Junern2013 Bekapai planned shutdown was above US$rn150,000 per day (Bekapai crude oil price assumedrnUS$ 80 per barrel and gas price assumed US$ 6 perrnMSCFD)
