A crystal-based differential oscillator circuit offeringrnsimultaneously high stability and ultra-low powerrnconsumption is presented for timekeeping andrndemanding radio applications. The differential circuitrnstructure -in contrast to that of the conventionalrn3-points- does not require any loading capacitance to bernfunctional and the power consumption can thus bernminimized. Although the loading capacitance is omittedrna very precise absolute oscillation frequency can bernobtained as well as an excellent insensitivity torntemperature variations thanks to the reduced parasiticsrnof a deep-submicron technology.rnThe power consumption of a 12.8MHz quartzrnoscillator including an amplitude regulation mechanismrnis below 1μA under a 1.8 to 0.6V supply voltage range.
