Nowadays college English class teaching focuses on the student-centered mode, in which students' language competence and performance is evaluated, and at the same time abundance, variety and fun are required to be the feature of the course contents.The theories of language competence, constructivism and second language acquisition provide the sound basis for college English audio-visual oral teaching.Adopting the time-reflected and life-reflected audio-visual material and real-scene visual dialogues, the combination of audial, visual and oral language input and output may contribute to the improvement of students' foreign language communicative competence.In addition, the application of context, cooperation and interaction and the series of language learning elements highlight the students' main body status and helps to attain the goal of the meaning construction of knowledge.Language is taken in through affection filter and is acquired through comprehensive language input.The paper deals with the theories of language competence, constructivism and second language acquisition and puts forward the audio-visual oral class teaching practice.
