The comprehensive evaluation of urban competitiveness in Henan Province based on principal component analysis and Cluster Analysis

摘要

In this paper, the principal component analysis is used to analyze the competitiveness of cities in Henan Province through the construction of urban competitiveness index systems. The urban competitiveness model in PCA can fully reflect the actual situation and the competitiveness of the city. It not only embodies the comprehensive economic strength of urban development, but also reflects the urban population density, infrastructure, education and health. It is conducive to fully reflect and measure the regional level of urbanization, and used to find the defects in urbanization process. Then, Hierarchical clustering method is made use of analyzing factors of each city. Policy recommendations are cited for improving city competitiveness.
