PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate a procedure in principal component analysis to shorten furthermore analysis work; to suppress generation of quality dispersion of analysis; and to enable strict analysis and discrimination.;SOLUTION: In this principal component analysis method used for spectrum analysis of spectrum data including a plurality of wavelengths, a degree of separation of two or more variables in each wavelength is determined, and at least two wavelengths are selected in the order of highness of the determined degree of separation, and principal component analysis is performed by using the selected wavelength. The degree of separation is defined by the following distance D(). Distance()=Max((MinXo()-MaxX1()), (MaxX1()-MinXo()))/o(), wherein, MinXo(): the minimum value of a noticed item in a wavelength band of read data, MaxX1(): the maximum value other than the noticed item in the wavelength band of the read data, o(): a standard deviation in the wavelength band of the noticed item, and Max (A, B): selection of larger one between A and B.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
