By using data of snow accretion amount on sides of the Shinkansen bogies measured at Morioka station,relationship between snow accretion amounts and the number of damage cases presumably caused by snow dropping from trains were analyzed.It was found that the snow accretion amount of high probability of snow drop damage was 0.06m3.Subsequently,we analyzed relationship between weather conditions along the Shinkansen line and snow accretion amount.The following results were obtained.Snow accretion amount more than 0.06m3 was roughly below-3.5℃ of average temperature at the passing time.Average precipitation at accumulation time of 11 hours was proportional to snow accretion amount.It seemed that accumulation time of the precipitation was concerned with snow properties.Using these results,we proposed a predicting method of the snow accretion amount based on the air temperature and the precipitation.
