Chongqing Model: Land Use, Real Estate Industry and Sustainable Urbanization

摘要

It was proved that economic development and urbanization promoted each other by many countries around the world. So urbanization would be the direction and powerful engine of Chinese economic and social development in the future. However, it would bring serious "urban diseases" as well as great prosperity, such as the consumption of limited land resources, the pollution of the environment, the impact on regional economy and the influence of social justice, etc. So the challenge how to pursue a reasonable way of urbanization, should be solved right now. At present, Chongqing, the youngest municipality directly under the central government, was exploring a new path during the process of urbanization. It was called "Chongqing Model" in this paper which was trying to explain how it did work in the following aspects: land use, real estate industry and sustainable urbanization. The experience of Chongqing would provide valuable reference for other cities in China. And last the paper took some measures to further improve "Chongqing Model" when it was spreaded.
