To effectively protect Tai-he Palace in the Forbidden City in China,its aseismic behaviors were studied by finite element analysis.Based on typical constitutions of Tai-he Palace,its finite element model was built.By modal analysis,its basic frequencies as well as main modes were obtained; by response spectrum analysis,its bearing performances under 8 degree intensity of frequently occurred earthquakes were studied; by time history analysis,its displacement and acceleration response curves under 8 degree intensity of seldom occurred earthquakes were further discussed.Results show that basic frequency value of Tai-he Palace is 0.85Hz; its main modes are of translation,which have little relation between each other in level directions.Both its internal forces under 8 degree intensity of frequently occurred earthquake and its peak deformation under 8 degree intensity of seldom occurred earthquakes are within the permission scopes,reflecting its good aseismic performances.Besides,its constitutions such as tenon-mortise joints,tou-kung(bracket sets),free-standing column roots and so on are helpful for seismic response mitigation.
