The evolution of the power markets is dramatically changing the structure of the electricityrnvalue chain. Utilities, IPPs and equipment manufacturers are facing new challenges and newrnrisks.rnThe paper presents Ansaldo Energia’s Global Service vision on how to create customerrnvalue, and provides enlighten examples of enablers which have been developed for suchrngoal.rnLong-term business relationships can thrive during the commercial operation of the plant, ifrnthe service provider is driven by the user’s same goal, I.e. managing and optimizing thernenergy assets.rnThe world of large-series shelf products, running-to-failure and being replaced by a soundrn“spare part” is gone forever, and will leave very few regrets: as a matter of fact, very costlyrncomponents in power plants and/or complex systems where short and/or long operationrninterruptions may cause dramatic losses cannot simply follow a run-to-failure approach.rnAs “integrated” players in the electricity value chain, OEM’s must be capable of supportingrntheir customers to be more competitive in the open market, by deploying service technologyrnto favourably impact:rn1. Operationsrn2. Maintenancern3. Availabilityrn4. Reliabilityrn5. Reduction of Emissionsrnthus allowing the power plant to generate additional profit.rnLong Term Service Agreements (LTSA) are becoming Ansaldo Energia’s cornerstone of thernservice business, as the very contractual relationship which allows value creation throughrntechnology and “smart” O&M decision making.rnHow to deploy proactive maintenance through condition-based information? How to takernswift and smart decision when multiple parameters and options have to be evaluatedrnsimultaneously? How to optimise lifecycle cost through strategic spare parts pooling? How tornminimize plant downtime through on-site services? How to manage assets in real-timernthrough remote monitoring and diagnostics?rnAll players are facing the above challenges: the paper will provide some insight into thernenablers that Ansaldo Energia has deployed in recent outstanding projects in order to assistrncustomers in optimising their power plant assets through smart O&M decisions.
