Heat treatments and thermo chemical treatments have been applied to a Fe-3Cr-0.5Mo prealloyed steel (Astaloy CrM®) with different graphite additions The applicability of this material for a rubbing wear part operating in a warm environment was evaluated. Dry sliding behaviour at ≈300 ℃ has been characterised by a pin-on-disc equipment fitted with a furnace controlling the friction coefficient and temperature simultaneously. Due to the elevated temperature, it is essential to investigate the oxidation response of this material with respect to secondary treatment, which can determine the final wear by dry sliding process. Materials have been pressed at 700 MPa and sintering up to 1250 ℃. Performed secondary treatments were from heat treatment, steam treatment to plasma nitriding.
