In the given work opportunities of management the properties of composites, on the basis of cubic boron nitride are studied. For linkage of particles of a powder at synthesis of a material for the cutting tool are used carbides of refractory metals. Methods of physics of metals are applied. With the coherent potential method of the multiple scattering theory the electron structure of the system «cubic boron nitride - carbide metal » is calculated. Change of phase structure or concentration of separate elements in binder results in essential change a valence band, that is reflected in properties of researched composites. The composites on the basis of system «cubic boron nitride - carbide metal»have shown high tribologycal characteristics and increased wear resistance at cutting.
