Composite material with a high abrasion resistance incorporating steel shot in a hydraulic binder for use in civil engineering applications calling for high strength and wear resistance
Composite material is obtained by mixing with water a composition, in a ratio of between 0.16 and 0.25, the composition containing (by weight) for 100 parts by weight of hydraulic binder, between 250 and 800 parts of steel shot and between 10 and 15 parts of silica fume. The composition is mixed in a manner to obtain a composite material with an abrasion index measured by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhone protocol of between 0.15 and 1.0, the value of the grain size (D10) of the shot being at least eight times greater than the value of the grain size (D90) of the hydraulic binder. An independent claim is also included for the fabrication of this composite material.
