An innovative approach for direct synthesis of high purity BaAl_2S_4:Eu and Ba_2SiS_4:Eu phosphor materials using solution-based methods was developed for the first time. The synthesis strategy involves preparation of high homogeneity oxide precursors by a solution based method followed by the sulfurization-reduction in CS_2 atmosphere. Analysis of chemicals composition of individual particles by SEM-EDX confirms substantially higher uniformity of the materials prepared by solution based synthesis compared to the samples obtained by conventional method.
