Off-axis holographic Fresnel lenses were designed and fabricated, with the aim of using them as multiplexer/demultiplexer in optical networks. The reduction of third-order aberrations was the main consideration. The theoretical analysis indicates that third-order aberration can be effectively reduced if the condition tanα_C/tanα_R = -λ_2/λ_1 is applied in geometry design and long object distance is selected. The experimental results verify the theoretical analysis.
