Previous studies have indicated that common remediation and water treatment methods are applicable to the gasoline additive methol tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). To better understand the cost and performance of remediation technoloies, fourteen gasoline-spill remediation projects addrssing MTBE were carefully evaluated. The remediation technologies used at these sites were ground-water extraction, soil vapor extraction, air sparging and biosparging, while the water treatment technologies included air stripping, carbon adsorption, and advanced oxidation.
