The prospect of employing SiC devices in photovoltaic power conversion systems offers therninteresting prospect of significant costs savings and hence increasing competitiveness. From one sidernthe switching frequency can be increased resulting in smaller filter elements. Increasing the maximumrnsystem voltage to 1500V allows eliminating the boost stage employed in three-phase systems. Suchrnpossibility will be investigated in a special single-stage three-phase circuit employing 1700V SiCrnswitches.
