摘要

Some substantial functions of collimating lens in two-lens confocal microscope configuration were studied using ray-tracing software and experiments. Also, basic advantages of using a high-numerical-aperture optical fiber for a confocal microscope configuration were investigated. It provides higher confocality without reducing the coupling efficiency between light signal and fiber. We performed comparative experiments using two optical fibers with different numerical apertures and the results from axial confocal response tests agreed with the theoretical prediction.
